Ka-Sat lifted Off Atop A Proton Rocketr Fom Baikonur In Kazakhstan

The second European satellite dedicated to providing broadband connections for Internet successfully launched.

The six t Ka-Sat is lifted on a Proton rocket from Baikonur in Kazakhstan at 0351 hours local, Monday (2151 GMT Sunday).

The flight took nine hours and 12 minutes.

Eutelsat spacecraft served to concentrate services for the estimated tens of millions of homes in the so-called non-places. "

These are places where consumers can not get a decent earth connection.

The boat follows the Hylas, a platform in orbit. The satellite, operated by Avanti Communications, London, was released last month.

Ka-Sat, however, is much larger and has a theoretical capacity to accommodate two million homes compared with Hylas 300,000.

However, it is the extent of under-served markets in Europe and on both platforms should be very useful project, the companies believe.

"As many as 30 million homes in Europe are not used at all or have a bad service high," said Eutelsat CEO Michel de Rosen.

"It could be people from the countryside or mountains, sometimes not far from the big cities. Ka-Sat is a response to this problem, Nnewi said.

A resident of Paris, Eutelsat is one of three world leading Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) companies, and sends thousands of television channels across its fleet of spacecraft.

It already includes Internet capabilities on existing platforms, but Ka-Sat is the first dedicated broadband efforts.

Ka-Sat will be located about 36,000 km on Ecuador at nine degrees east longitude. Ka-Sat is prepared in the United Kingdom

The communications payload and propulsion system design prepared by EADS Astrium in Stevenage and Portsmouth plants in the United Kingdom.

Probe test which took place at the plant Astrium in Toulouse, France, before shipment to Baikonur.

KA-SAT has a total capacity of about 70Gbps.

This chicken can be 82 spot beams is a different market area extends from North Africa to southern Scandinavia. A very small part of the Middle East also achieved.

Eutelsat has about 70 distributors across the 'footprint' satellite, and will be signed next year, "said de Rose.

"Tager det for et par uger normalt til en satellit BLIVE lanceringen efter comes to me," Han forklarede.

"In this case, it is probably a couple of months. We will see Ka-la will be operational in the second half of the second quarter of 2011."
